Chili Cook-off Haiti Relief Penny War Results (1/29/2010)

The student council of Lutheran High South wanted to find a way to help the victims of the recent earthquakes in Haiti. They put their heads together and decided to hold a penny war. Each class received points for pennies placed in their jug and lost points for any silver or paper money. Student council agreed to match up to $200 of the money raised and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will match $0.50 of each dollar raised. The results are as follows:

Class $ in Pennies $ in Other Monies Total Raised Points
Freshmen $57.02 $113.55 $170.57 -5653
Sophomores $65.09 $37.35 $102.44 2774
Juniors $11.48 $48.00 $59.48 -3652
Seniors $4.99 $38.55 $43.54 -3356
Staff $12.37 $61.60 $73.97 -4923

Total Raised by Lutheran South: $450.00
Student Council Match: $200.00
Thrivent Match: $225.00

Grand Total Raised: $850.00

While the Sophomores won a pizza party, and the Freshmen won brownies, the real winners are the people of Haiti who will be helped by your generosity.

Great Lakes Scrip Logo Scrip Update (1/15/2010)

LHS Scrip orders can now be placed on-line at your convenience. How it works:

  1. Go to www.shopwithscrip.com
  2. Find the Member Log In on the far right of the screen. Click on "Not a member-Click here." Follow the simple registration process. Our school's unique enrollment code is: BAA4B7D515719.
  3. Once registered you can place an order at your convenience. The order screen will have all the vendors available, not just the ones on our family order form, broken down by category.
  4. Submit your order. A confirmation page will appear with the amount you owe. Print this page and send it to school with your payment. The school's coordinator will receive an email advising them you have placed and order. Your order will be returned to you through the school as usual.

Please note: www.shopwithscripcom does not collect the money or place the orders with Great Lakes Scrip. It is simply a way to order any time without worrying about finding an order form.

NEXT SCRIP ORDER DUE
MONDAY, JANUARY 17TH!

An updated Scrip form was sent home with students today and should also be available online.

You may continue to order using the form sent home or you may follow the directions above to place your order on line. All payments will still be made by check or money order delivered to the school office and made payable to "Lutheran High South".
