Music Recommendations
One (1) to two (2) units for college prep
Band
Prerequisite: None
In this course students will learn to play a standard band instrument in a group setting, with
particular attention to intonation, balance, expression and musicality. Students will perform a
variety of music in many settings, including concerts, school events, and local churches.
Choir
Prerequisite: None
In this course students will learn to read and sing music in a group setting, with particular
attention to intonation, balance, expression, and musicality. Students will perform a variety of
music in different settings, including concerts, school events, and local churches.
Handbells I
Prerequisite: None
Handbells I is an introductory course in ringing handbells. Students will be introduced to proper
ringing techniques and learn basic musical skills and terminology. Students will be expected to
perform simple to intermediate Handbell repertoire with accuracy and musicality. This is a
performance course, so emphasis will be placed on preparing music to be performed at local
churches, concerts and other events.
Handbells II
Handbells II is an advanced course in ringing handbells. Students will learn advanced ringing
skills and be expected to perform intermediate to advanced Handbell repertoire with a high level
of accuracy and musicality. This is a performance course, so emphasis will be placed on
preparing music to be performed at local churches, concerts and other events.
