Graduation Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Twenty-four (24) units of credit plus ½ credit of Religion for each semester enrolled is required for graduation.
One credit is given for a class that meets five days a week for a period length of at least forty (40)
minutes for the entire school year. One half (½) credit is given for a class that meets five days a week
for at least forty minutes for one semester.
Required in the twenty-four (24) units are:
- Four units of English
- Three units of Social Studies, including one unit of U.S. History and one half (½) unit
of American Government (or approved substitutes for international students).
- Two units of Mathematics
- Two units of Science
- Two units of Fine Arts, Practical Arts, and or Foreign Language.
- One and one-half (1½) units of Physical Education
- One half (½) unit of Health
Notes:
- Credit in Religion must be earned for each semester a student is enrolled.
- All students must be in attendance for four years in some high school. (Unless
a special exception is granted)
- Each Senior must be enrolled in a full program the final semester of their Senior year.
- A student who in his/her Senior year receives more than one semester “F” grade in
other than required courses must make up all but one of those courses before graduation
privileges are granted (participation in commencement, granting a diploma, issuing a
transcript, etc.).
- Student Service hours must be completed and turned in prior to commencement for the
student to receive their diploma at the commencement service. Students will not receive
their diploma until this requirement has been met.
- All student’s obligations (academic and financial) are to be fulfilled prior to commencement.
- One half (½) credit is given for approved college courses taught.
Students may also qualify for college credit
- One half (½) elective credit is given for international foreign study trips that have a
study/credit component.
