Home Field Advantage
Did you know that a diamond is emerging from the rough at LHS? A baseball diamond that is!
Many hands got together a few weekends ago and cleared the sod from our in-field, base paths,
pitchers mound and home plate. It was wonderful to see so many parents, students, and LHS
supporters willing to go the extra mile to get our baseball field in shape for this spring.
There is still much work to be done. The information listed below begins to detail some
of the work still to do. Please contact the school office if you are able to support our
"Home Field Advantage" effort this spring.
Sincerely,
Steven A. Garrabrant
The "Home Field Advantage" Plan
Rounding 3rd ... Immediate Needs
- Purchase, trucking and/or grading of our infield dirt
- Install a gate in the right field fence past 1st base
- Bases, Home Plate, Pitching Rubber
- Materials or other options for temporary team benches
- Grass Seed & Straw
Home Field Advantage
Thoughts to consider:
- The sooner we get our home field on line -- the less parents and supporters will spend on gas to get to & from away games.
- Based on an average round trip of 60 miles @ 20 mpg and $2.90 per gallon x 7 home vs. away games that's $61.
- Add to that any fast food purchased on the way to or from the games and the average baseball fan spends at least an additional $100!
Field of Dreams
In addition to any support you can provide now, please watch for more information regarding future events and opportunities for you to help make LHS history by being part of the LHS Home Field Advantage project.
Getting a Good Lead
We have several donors who have offered a total of up to $2,500 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds for any LHS baseball field donations received in the next few weeks in a final push to launch a 2010 Home Season for LHS Baseball. The approximate total for this approved capital project comes to around $10,000. With the $2,500 in committed matching funds, we have a goal of an additional $7500. LHS Boosters and parents have already put much time, effort, and sweat into this project and are looking for help to have the field ready for home games yet this season!
Donations can be sent to the school office with checks made out to Lutheran High School South and designated for Home Field Advantage.
Additional Giving Options
Lutheran High South and the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Detroit continue to work towards building the tuition assistance fund and capital improvement fund as well.
In this struggling economy, we see more and more families who are in need of financial assistance in order to provide their children with a Christian education. If you are so moved, you can become an "Angel" donor and help a family in need. Please contact the school office for more information.
As Lutheran South continues to show growth the time has come to build a permanent classroom facility and leave the modular building behind. If you are interested in donating to the LHS Capital Campaign, please contact the school office.
Thank You
Thank you for your continued prayers for the growth and ministry of Lutheran High South. We continue to feel the outpouring of blessings from our constituents, families, and supporters!
May God continue to bless you!
